Natural BEAST colour light
The traditional Swedish colour has been used in Sweden and Latvia from the 17th and 18th centuries until today. Swedish paint is intended for painting unveneered wooden surfaces, it is suitable for painting wooden facades of farm buildings, ranches, shingle roofs and residential buildings. The paint is ecologically friendly and environmentally friendly, the painted wood "breathes". The compounds in the Swedish paint protect the wood from decay and mould and preserve the surface. The surface is only coated once with Swedish paint and does not need any preparation, except for dust, old paint, mould and other dirt. The paint is also suitable for mineral surfaces, no surface starching or priming is required. The natural pigments in the paint are fade resistant. The paint can be used for both interior and exterior work.
Usage: The Swedish paint is applied with a paint brush. The paint shall be applied to the entire surface in broad strokes and shall be rubbed in to fill pores and cracks in the wood surface. Care must be taken to ensure that no areas are left unpainted, as these will not be even when painted later. Overcast, windless weather is recommended for painting - the paint will dry slowly and bond better to the surface to be painted. The paint should not be used for window frames and doors.
Drying time: 2 - 6 hours, depending on the wood processing conditions.
Consumption: 4 - 6 m2 / l depending on wood absorption capacity.
Storage: In original packaging and in warm storage.
Safety: The paint is non-flammable and safe for human health.
Cleaning tools: Wash tools and hands with water.
Wood is a traditional building material in Latvia, it delights the inhabitants with its natural beauty and creates a feeling of warmth and cosiness in the home.
To preserve a tree for as long as possible, it needs to be protected from adverse weather conditions and pests. The facades of wooden houses, outbuildings and other buildings need special protection. One popular method of protection is to paint the buildings with traditional Swedish paint. Swedish paint is also called "flour" or "earth" paint, these names coming from Scandinavia. It is made exclusively from natural materials, using the unique ability of linseed oil to penetrate the pores of the wood, the ability of the flour glue (kleister) to provide a "breathable" protection of the wood from moisture when dry and the inhibiting effect of salts on various wood infections, fungi. Most modern polymer paints do not provide an adequate protective effect. Swedish paint is particularly suitable for unsealed wood. By penetrating deep into the wood, it provides long-lasting protection (15-20 years) without cracking or peeling the wood.
A smart landlord will appreciate the affordability and value for money of Swedish paint.
What you should know about the Swedish colour: questions and answers.
What is the Swedish colour?
Traditional boiled flour colour used in Sweden since the 17th century and still used today.
What is the composition of Swedish paint?
Swedish paint contains flour glue, linseed oil, natural pigments and various additives.
What can I paint with Swedish paint?
Swedish paint is ideal for long-lasting protection of wooden facades and wooden structures exposed to the environment. It penetrates well into the wood and forms a protective layer. Mineral surfaces (plaster, mineral boards, etc.) can also be coated with the paint.
What are the main characteristics of Swedish paint and how does it differ from linseed oil paints?
Linseed oil paint-stains take up part of the wood pores, thus reducing moisture absorption. The linseed oil in Swedish paint performs the same function. In addition, the Swedish paint creates a protective layer on the wood surface against UV, moisture and insects.
What is the lifetime of Swedish paint?
A wooden facade protected with Swedish paint does not need to be repainted for at least 10 years.
How should Swedish paint be applied?
Swedish has a thick, gelatinous consistency. It is therefore best applied with a stiff brush or roller, rubbed into the wood. The colour is particularly good on unveneered wood. We recommend painting in 2 coats.
How long does the paint take to dry?
Drying time 12-24 hours, depending on weather conditions.
What is the Swedish paint consumption?
One litre of Swedish paint can cover 4-5m2 in one coat and about 3m2 in two coats.
Does Swedish paint contain organic solvents and other substances harmful to humans?
Swedish paint contains no organic solvents and is water soluble. It contains only natural components that are not harmful to human health.
How profitable is it to use Swedish paint?
Swedish paint is cheaper than most modern chemical paints and has a longer service life.
Protecting adjacent surfaces?
Wood richly impregnated with Swedish paint can, when completely dry, develop a layer of frost-like salts that wash off during the first rain and do not affect the durability of the paint. This is particularly the case when wet wood is painted. The washed-off salts may partially stain adjacent mineral surfaces (concrete, paving, etc.). To protect other elements of the building, it is recommended to cover them with a film until the first rain or to carry out a light washing of the boards after they have dried completely.
